Celestron NexStar 102SLT Refractor Telescope
Celestrons previous short refractor telescope models, were so well received by hobbyist astronomers; it inspired Celestron to go a significant step further. They have out done themselves with the release of the new model Celestron NexStar 102SLT Refractor. This telescope is loaded with outstanding features, and with a variety of other accessories available, that is bound to be the pleasure of beginning and intermediate astronomers the world over. The tube is large and powerful at 101.6milimeters and offers an incredible increase of 63 percent in image brightness power over competitor 80-millimetre tubes.
The stainless steel tripod comes fully assembled and can be set up in just a few minutes. The 102SLT has a large 1.7-degree field of view that is perfect for scanning large areas of the sky and land viewing as well, with the optional erect image diagonal. The erect image diagonal ensures that when the telescope is used for land viewing, that images are oriented properly, upright, and correct from left to right. Windy conditions, uneven terrain, or a bump to the telescope can cause reduced image quality. Celestron has an optional vibration suppression kit that reduces vibration almost 100 percent. The kit consists of three suppression pads designed to fit between the bottom of the tripod legs and the ground. A straightforward and highly functional solution to the problem of image disturbance. This kit will work no matter what the surface or terrain is, and would make a fine optional accessory.
For those with an interest in observing the sun (please do not observe the sun with the naked eye or through a telescope with out a sun filter, serious eye damage will occur) Celestron has made a technical advancement with their new Astro Solar Safety Film solar filters. These filters are a technical advancement that is far superior to any glass, Mylar or polymer filters. Brighter, sharper, and higher- contrast images than was obtainable with out dated competitor filters. The sun will appear to the observer in its real colour (neutral white) instead of blue or orange, and the sky adjacent to the solar limb is jet black. Some hobbyist astronomers spend a significant amount of time in their observations, unfortunately, standard batteries can fail during extended observation periods Celestron has a new optional power tank 12 volt power supply, just in case the batteries fail. Features include 7-amp hour, two 12-volt output cigarette lighter ports, 3, 6, and 9-volt outputs for accessories and a host of other features as well. For the beginning or intermediate astronomer, the Celestron NexStar 102SLT Refractor Telescope would be an ideal buy.
